A picture is worth a thousand words - please read this and check out my pictures before you call this company! We have been customers of Arctic Air for years and this is the installation they performed at our home. Incomplete wiring, pieces taped in place, instead of fully removing the old unit the new swamp cooler is taped to pieces of the old unit - since this was done on our roof, we might have never known how bad the installation was but it caused a leak in our living room and we’ve been stuck in a nightmare ever since.
If we want repairs done through them then we just need to sign a form releasing them of all liability - would you sign off on a company that performed THIS work to come fix it?
• This was installed 6/6
• Arctic Air performed repairs on the new unit on 6/8 (it was flooding our side yard due to an incorrect valve placement)
• There was a leak in our living room on 6/14 and an Arctic Air tech confirmed it was their responsibility and management would follow up
To date, we are still going back and forth while things stay broken and damaged in our home. Save yourself this trouble!

Thanks for the response Arctic Air - as of 07/08/26, our request was not approved by management. If they have changed their mind, we would appreciate a commitment in writing (via email).

They just keep getting better! I know it can be difficult in these times to trust companies to truly take care of you, do solid work, all at a fair price, but this company does! Had Joe come out and inspect my A/C unit. He was very thoughtful, complete and accommodating. 5 star is not enough. He gave some great recommendations without any high pressure sales and I am completely happy with adding these features to my home through the best A/C company I have worked with by far. Call them, use them and find trust again! Thank you Joe!

The gentleman that came out the week before to diagnose the problem gave us same info as the So Cal Gas representative. But, in addition to saying we were fortunate to be alive and should keep the heater pilot off, he came back the next day with a portable heater for our use until new heater could be installed on Monday .

The Desert Is Hard on California City Homes
California City sits high on the open Mojave. The desert is hard on a home out here. The town spreads across more than 200 square miles. Houses stand far apart, with long service lines between them. Summer heat, winter freezes, and steady wind all take their toll. Many homes also draw from deep desert groundwater. A few desert facts of life explain most of our California City calls.
- Punishing desert summers. Out on the Mojave, summer heat is relentless and dry. July afternoons climb into the upper 90s and higher. There is nothing out here to block the sun. An air conditioner carries the whole load, hour after hour. That constant demand wears the equipment out ahead of its time.
- Freezing desert winters. Winter flips the desert the other way. Nights here drop to freezing through December and January. A furnace loafs all summer, then suddenly has to perform. A pipe left exposed on an open lot can freeze before dawn.
- Wind off the Mojave. The Mojave wind blows hard and often, with the Tehachapi passes right to the west. It drives sand and grit straight across the open ground. The grit works into the condenser and blankets the filter. A yearly tune-up washes the coils clean and restores the airflow.
- Hard well water. Water out here comes from deep desert wells and aquifers. It carries a heavy mineral load. That mineral load hardens into scale inside the water heater and slowly narrows the pipes. Water heaters take the worst of it. They top our call list in California City.
- A city built for far more. California City was laid out for a huge population. That population never arrived. Streets and utility lines still run for miles past scattered homes. A house here often sits on a long private run of water and sewer line. Many of those lines have aged in the desert for decades. Those long, aging lines keep our leak detection and sewer work busy in California City.
The desert out here plays rough. A well-kept home still holds its own. Regular maintenance heads off most of what California City throws at a system.
