AC, Heating & Plumbing in Tehachapi, CA
Tehachapi winters bring real cold, snow, and freezing nights that put pressure on furnaces, heat pumps, and plumbing lines. Arctic Air & Plumbing services the heating, cooling, and plumbing systems that keep mountain homes working through every season.
HVAC & Plumbing Services for Tehachapi Homeowners
Tehachapi is not the same as the desert floor. Sitting around 4,000 feet between the San Joaquin Valley and the Mojave, the town gets real winter weather, cooler nights, milder summers, and plenty of wind. Locals call it the Land of Four Seasons for a reason.
Those conditions put steady demand on a home. Furnaces work through cold mountain nights. Air conditioners still matter on warm summer afternoons. Wind pushes dust into outdoor equipment and filters. Hard water can wear down water heaters, pipes, and fixtures over time.
Arctic Air & Plumbing is based in Lancaster, and we regularly make the drive up to Tehachapi. Since 2009, we’ve helped Southern California homeowners take care of the heating, cooling, and plumbing systems they rely on every day.
AC, Heating & Plumbing Services We Offer in Tehachapi
Tehachapi homes deal with a different mix of problems than homes down in the valley. Winter puts pressure on the furnace. Summer still brings AC calls. Plumbing systems have to handle freezing temperatures, hard water, long water lines, and everyday use.
Arctic Air & Plumbing handles HVAC and plumbing service from one team, so you don’t have to track down a different company for every system in the house.
Air Conditioning
Tehachapi summers are milder than Lancaster or Palmdale, but your AC still needs to work when warm afternoons settle in. Wind can also be hard on outdoor equipment, pushing dust and grit into the condenser and loading up the air filter faster than expected.
Our HVAC technicians inspect the system, find the cause of the problem, and explain what needs to be repaired. Seasonal AC maintenance can also help keep airflow steady before the windy, warmer months arrive.

Heating
Winter is the bigger test in Tehachapi. Snow, freezing nights, and long cold stretches can push a furnace hard from late fall into spring. If the system is worn out, dirty, or already struggling, that stress usually shows up when you need heat most.
Arctic Air & Plumbing repairs, replaces, and maintains heating systems for Tehachapi homes. We can inspect the issue, explain whether repair or replacement makes more sense, and help get reliable heat back in the house.

Plumbing
Cold weather and hard water both matter in Tehachapi. Freezing temperatures can damage exposed or poorly insulated pipes, while mineral-heavy water can leave scale inside water heaters, pipes, and fixtures over time.
Our plumbers service the plumbing systems Tehachapi homeowners depend on, from water heaters and drains to gas lines, sewer lines, and leak detection.

A picture is worth a thousand words - please read this and check out my pictures before you call this company! We have been customers of Arctic Air for years and this is the installation they performed at our home. Incomplete wiring, pieces taped in place, instead of fully removing the old unit the new swamp cooler is taped to pieces of the old unit - since this was done on our roof, we might have never known how bad the installation was but it caused a leak in our living room and we’ve been stuck in a nightmare ever since.
If we want repairs done through them then we just need to sign a form releasing them of all liability - would you sign off on a company that performed THIS work to come fix it?
• This was installed 6/6
• Arctic Air performed repairs on the new unit on 6/8 (it was flooding our side yard due to an incorrect valve placement)
• There was a leak in our living room on 6/14 and an Arctic Air tech confirmed it was their responsibility and management would follow up
To date, we are still going back and forth while things stay broken and damaged in our home. Save yourself this trouble!

Thanks for the response Arctic Air - as of 07/08/26, our request was not approved by management. If they have changed their mind, we would appreciate a commitment in writing (via email).

They just keep getting better! I know it can be difficult in these times to trust companies to truly take care of you, do solid work, all at a fair price, but this company does! Had Joe come out and inspect my A/C unit. He was very thoughtful, complete and accommodating. 5 star is not enough. He gave some great recommendations without any high pressure sales and I am completely happy with adding these features to my home through the best A/C company I have worked with by far. Call them, use them and find trust again! Thank you Joe!

The gentleman that came out the week before to diagnose the problem gave us same info as the So Cal Gas representative. But, in addition to saying we were fortunate to be alive and should keep the heater pilot off, he came back the next day with a portable heater for our use until new heater could be installed on Monday .

Why Tehachapi Weather Is Hard on Home Systems
Four seasons at 4,000 feet ask a lot from a home. Cold nights, wind, snow, and hard water each affect a different part of the house.
- Cold, snowy winters. Tehachapi gets real winter weather, including snow and long stretches of freezing nights. Your furnace carries the home through that season. If it has worn parts, poor airflow, ignition trouble, or a dirty burner, those problems often show up during the coldest weather.
- Relentless wind. The Tehachapi Pass is known for wind, and that wind does more than move turbines. It drives dust and grit into outdoor AC equipment, loads filters faster, and can push cold air through gaps around doors, windows, and ductwork. Clean filters, clear outdoor equipment, and sealed air leaks all matter here.
- Early and late freezes. At higher elevation, freezing temperatures can arrive earlier in the fall and linger later into spring. Exposed or poorly insulated pipes are more likely to freeze, crack, or leak. Insulating vulnerable lines before the first hard freeze can prevent a much bigger plumbing problem.
- Snow around outdoor equipment. Outdoor AC condensers and heat pump units need room to breathe. Snow, ice, leaves, and debris can block airflow, strain the fan, and make the system work harder. Keeping the area around the unit clear helps protect the equipment during the winter.
- Hard mountain water. Hard water leaves mineral buildup inside water heaters, pipes, and fixtures. Over time, that scale can reduce efficiency, shorten equipment life, and create plumbing problems. Regular water heater maintenance helps keep buildup under control.
