AC, Heating & Plumbing in Santa Clarita, CA
Between the long summer heat and the hard water, Santa Clarita homes keep their AC and plumbing working hard. Arctic Air & Plumbing has you covered for cooling, heating, and plumbing.
Reliable HVAC & Plumbing Services for Santa Clarita Homeowners
Santa Clarita isn’t a desert town. It sits in its own valley on the far side of the mountains from Lancaster, ringed by the San Gabriels and the Sierra Pelona. Close to a quarter-million people live here across Valencia, Saugus, Newhall, and Canyon Country. It’s one of the larger cities in Los Angeles County. Much of it was master-planned, from the paseos of Valencia to the newer tracts up the canyons.
We’re based up in Lancaster, and we make the run down the 14 to Santa Clarita all the time. That freeway ties Lancaster to a whole string of our service-area towns. We know the route cold. Southern California homeowners have counted on Arctic Air & Plumbing since 2009. It’s one crew for the AC, the furnace, the water heater, and the drains. When the AC gives out in an August heat wave, we head down and get your home cool again.
AC, Heating & Plumbing Services in Santa Clarita
Cooling, heating, plumbing: in Santa Clarita, Arctic Air & Plumbing does all three. The summers here run long and hot. Our HVAC team spends most of the year on air conditioning, and keeps the furnace ready for the cooler months. On the plumbing side, we cover your water heater and drains, plus the wear and tear from hard water usage.
Air Conditioning
Santa Clarita’s cooling season is long. Your AC does the heavy lifting from late spring into fall. When it quits in the heat, our HVAC technicians usually knock out the repair in a single visit. A spring tune-up can catch a small fault before the summer heat turns it into a breakdown.

- Seasonal AC Maintenance and Tune-Ups
Heating
Winters in Santa Clarita are mild. Your furnace works far less here than it would out in the desert. It still earns its place on the cold mornings and the odd cold snap. A furnace sits idle most of the year here, and it can be slow to start when you finally need it. A quick check before winter heads that off. If it won’t fire up on a cold morning, we’ll come get the heat going.

Plumbing
Santa Clarita runs on municipal water. Across the valley, it comes out hard. That hard water is toughest on the water heater. Scale settles inside the tank and shortens its life. It builds up in the pipes and fixtures too. In the older Newhall and Canyon Country homes, the plumbing has had longer to gather it. Our plumbers cover the whole system, from the water heater out to the sewer line.

A picture is worth a thousand words - please read this and check out my pictures before you call this company! We have been customers of Arctic Air for years and this is the installation they performed at our home. Incomplete wiring, pieces taped in place, instead of fully removing the old unit the new swamp cooler is taped to pieces of the old unit - since this was done on our roof, we might have never known how bad the installation was but it caused a leak in our living room and we’ve been stuck in a nightmare ever since.
If we want repairs done through them then we just need to sign a form releasing them of all liability - would you sign off on a company that performed THIS work to come fix it?
• This was installed 6/6
• Arctic Air performed repairs on the new unit on 6/8 (it was flooding our side yard due to an incorrect valve placement)
• There was a leak in our living room on 6/14 and an Arctic Air tech confirmed it was their responsibility and management would follow up
To date, we are still going back and forth while things stay broken and damaged in our home. Save yourself this trouble!

Thanks for the response Arctic Air - as of 07/08/26, our request was not approved by management. If they have changed their mind, we would appreciate a commitment in writing (via email).

They just keep getting better! I know it can be difficult in these times to trust companies to truly take care of you, do solid work, all at a fair price, but this company does! Had Joe come out and inspect my A/C unit. He was very thoughtful, complete and accommodating. 5 star is not enough. He gave some great recommendations without any high pressure sales and I am completely happy with adding these features to my home through the best A/C company I have worked with by far. Call them, use them and find trust again! Thank you Joe!

The gentleman that came out the week before to diagnose the problem gave us same info as the So Cal Gas representative. But, in addition to saying we were fortunate to be alive and should keep the heater pilot off, he came back the next day with a portable heater for our use until new heater could be installed on Monday .

Why Santa Clarita's Climate Is Hard on Home Systems
Santa Clarita sits in a hot, dry inland valley, ringed by brush-covered hills. Its summers are long and hot. In the fall, the Santa Ana winds sweep through and raise the fire danger. Along with the valley’s hard water, these conditions wear on your heating, cooling, and plumbing:
- Long, hot summers. Summer highs sit in the 90s for weeks. Heat waves push past 100. Your AC carries the house from late spring well into fall. That long a run puts real hours on a system. It shows up first in an older unit.
- Fire season and Santa Ana winds. The hills around Santa Clarita are dry brush and chaparral. Fall brings the Santa Ana winds. With them comes real fire risk. When a fire burns nearby, smoke and fine ash hang in the valley air. Your AC pulls that air through the system, and a filter loads up fast. A fresh filter through fire season keeps the worst of the ash out of your coils and out of the house.
- Hard water across the valley. The valley’s water carries a lot of calcium and magnesium. It runs hard out of every tap. Those minerals settle out as scale, coating the tank and narrowing the pipes. Left alone, that scale keeps thickening. It’s the quiet reason a lot of Santa Clarita water heaters give out early.
- Homes old and new. Santa Clarita spread out over decades. Home ages run the full range. Newhall and parts of Canyon Country hold some of the oldest houses in the valley. Valencia and Stevenson Ranch went up much later. An older home may be due for a new furnace or water heater. A newer one mostly needs steady upkeep. We work on both ends of that.
- Mild winters, real cold snaps. Hard freezes are rare down here. Your heating bill runs lighter than it would in the desert. The cold still arrives, though. Valley mornings can drop near freezing. A storm can pull the daytime temperature down fast. A furnace sits unused from spring to winter, then picks the coldest morning to quit.
None of this is unusual for the area. It comes with living in a hot, dry valley at the edge of the mountains. Regular maintenance is how you stay ahead of it. We keep that in mind on every Santa Clarita job.
